US and India deepen space ties beyond cooperation into co-creation phase
The United States and India are transitioning their space partnership from traditional cooperation to active co-creation, with joint instrument design and startup funding emerging as key pillars, according to the US Ambassador to India.

US Ambassador Sergio Gor said Monday that the bilateral space relationship had matured beyond conventional cooperation frameworks, with both nations now jointly designing instruments, co-funding emerging space ventures, and collaborating on future discovery initiatives.
Addressing delegates at the inaugural Bengaluru Space Expo (BSX), Gor emphasised that recent discussions at the ninth US-India Civil Space Joint Working Group, held in the city, demonstrated the partnership's evolution into a co-creation model. "We are no longer just sharing data; we are co-designing instruments, co-funding startups, and co-authoring the future of human discovery," the Ambassador said.
The three-day expo, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in partnership with the Indian Space Research Organisation, IN-SPACe and NewSpace India Limited, runs until September 9 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. The event showcases India's growing capabilities in commercial space ventures and international collaboration opportunities.
The enhanced partnership reflects deepening strategic alignment between Washington and New Delhi on space exploration, scientific research, and the commercialisation of space technologies—areas increasingly central to both nations' long-term technological and economic ambitions.
