US charity programme replaces retired couple's broken heating system

Diane and Brian Johnsen, a retired couple from Beaverton, Oregon, faced mounting expenses when their home's heating and cooling system broke down. Unable to afford the replacement costs, the couple turned to the Lennox Feel the Love programme, which provides essential home improvements to eligible homeowners at no charge.

The initiative, operated by heating and cooling equipment manufacturer Lennox, aims to assist households struggling with necessary home repairs. Qualifying applicants receive assistance from participating local contractors who donate their installation services and labour.

Local contractor Aviator Heating & Cooling, partnering with the Lennox programme, installed a new HVAC system at the Johnsen residence. The replacement unit, valued at approximately $16,000, addressed the couple's immediate needs while relieving them of significant financial burden.

The Feel the Love programme operates across multiple regions in the United States, selecting applicants based on financial need and other qualifying criteria. The initiative highlights corporate efforts to address home maintenance challenges faced by senior citizens and other vulnerable households.
