Latter-day Saint Charities delivered medicines valued at Rs. 330 million to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media on Thursday, marking a significant contribution to cancer care in Sri Lanka. The donation, comprising oncology pharmaceuticals, is intended to support treatment programs for cancer patients across the country.
Alongside the drug delivery, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the charity organization and the Ministry of Health and Mass Media. The agreement is expected to establish a framework for potential future collaboration in healthcare initiatives benefiting Sri Lankan patients.
The donation comes as Sri Lanka continues to strengthen its healthcare infrastructure and expand access to essential medicines. Cancer treatment remains a significant health challenge for the nation, with many patients facing barriers to accessing costly pharmaceutical interventions.
The contribution underscores international support for Sri Lanka's public health sector and reflects broader efforts by international organizations to address healthcare needs in the region.
