US embassy talks routine diplomacy, not interference: Nazri

Nazri Aziz, who previously served as Malaysia's envoy to Washington, rejected assertions that meetings conducted at the American diplomatic mission constitute inappropriate external involvement in domestic affairs.

According to Nazri, such consultations represent ordinary procedure within international diplomatic protocols and should not be construed as interference. His remarks came in response to allegations raised by the president of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) regarding the nature of the embassy discussions.

The former diplomat emphasized that regular engagement between government officials and foreign diplomatic missions is a standard and accepted practice in the conduct of international relations. He noted that such interactions serve important functions in maintaining bilateral relationships and facilitating communication between nations.
