US failed to grasp India's terrorism concerns, says Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said on Tuesday that the United States lacked sufficient empathy for India's concerns on counterterrorism, contributing to periodic strains in the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Addressing the relationship comprehensively, Jaishankar pointed to multiple friction points that have tested India-US ties in recent years. Trade negotiations have created "bumps" in the relationship, he noted, while Washington's approach to terrorism-related matters and visa mobility issues have similarly impacted bilateral dynamics.
