The 2008 attacks, which targeted multiple locations across Mumbai including the Taj Palace Hotel, claimed the lives of 166 people and left hundreds injured. The terror strikes remain among the most significant security incidents in independent India's history.

The remarks underscored Washington's commitment to supporting New Delhi's counter-terrorism efforts and broader security interests in the region.
