US-made components found in Russian missiles, Ukraine says

Ukrainian intelligence officials have documented the presence of US-manufactured electronics in Russian missile systems, raising fresh concerns about potential sanctions evasion and illicit procurement networks supplying Moscow's military-industrial complex.

According to assessments by Ukrainian authorities, the production of these missiles involves a complex supply chain spanning approximately 70 companies and 84 individuals across multiple countries. The network encompasses suppliers for critical components including guidance systems, propulsion mechanisms, warhead assemblies, onboard computers, and other essential subsystems.

The discovery underscores longstanding Western concerns about the effectiveness of export controls aimed at preventing advanced technology from reaching Russia. Ukraine has previously documented instances of Western components finding their way into Russian weapons systems, often through third-party intermediaries and front companies operating in countries with weaker enforcement of international sanctions.

The findings add pressure on Western nations to strengthen monitoring and enforcement mechanisms for technology exports. US and European officials have intensified scrutiny of supply chains and re-export networks, particularly targeting countries that serve as transshipment hubs for restricted goods destined for Russia.

Neither Russian nor American officials have immediately commented on the Ukrainian intelligence assessment.
