Nidal Hasan, a former US Army psychiatrist, was convicted of carrying out a mass shooting at Fort Hood military installation in Texas that left 13 people dead and over 30 others wounded. The November 2009 attack was motivated by Al-Qaeda ideology, according to military investigators and court records.
Hasan was sentenced to death following his court-martial and has exhausted multiple appeals over the past 15 years. The scheduled execution on December 3 will be carried out by firing squad at a federal military facility.
The decision to livestream the execution has drawn attention from media organisations and civil rights observers. The US military has indicated that the broadcast will be made available to accredited media representatives and select witnesses, though specific details regarding public access remain limited.
The Fort Hood shooting remains one of the deadliest mass casualty incidents on a US military installation. Most of the victims were military personnel and civilians working at the base when the attack occurred.
