US Police Officer Abused Surveillance System to Track Ex-Girlfriend

A Kentucky police officer has faced scrutiny after conducting more than 2,000 searches using an automated licence plate recognition system known as Flock, with authorities concluding the searches were not related to legitimate law enforcement activities.

The officer, identified as Asad Zahir, reportedly used the surveillance tool to track two vehicles over an extended period. An internal investigation determined that the searches were conducted to monitor an ex-girlfriend rather than as part of any authorised drug investigation or other official police work.
