American singer Mary Millben on Wednesday alleged that the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) is being funded by donors in the United States who oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration. Speaking publicly on the matter, Millben characterized the party's activities as part of a "disruptive spirit" and called upon young Indians to resist what she described as destabilizing forces.
Millben's comments come amid ongoing protests in New Delhi by supporters of opposition parties and the CJP, who are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
The 41-year-old performer specifically named CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke, asserting that he and his party are receiving backing from foreign sources opposed to Modi's continued leadership. She urged what she called "young patriots in India" to peacefully demonstrate against these "disruptive" forces, emphasizing that silence was not appropriate at this juncture.
Millben's statement represents an external perspective on India's domestic political tensions, adding an international dimension to the ongoing debate over electoral administration and political funding sources.
