US stock markets delivered a mixed performance as trading concluded for the week, with the benchmark S&P 500 edging higher despite broader market uncertainty.
The S&P 500 advanced 12.74 points to close at 7,650.50, representing a marginal gain of 0.17 per cent. The move suggested some stabilisation after days of volatile swings that characterised the week's trading.
However, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 95.40 points, or 0.18 per cent, indicating continued weakness among large-cap stocks and underscoring the uneven nature of the market recovery.
The mixed results reflected investors' cautious approach as markets digested economic data and shifted positions ahead of the weekend. The performance demonstrated the ongoing sensitivity of equities to macroeconomic signals and sentiment shifts among market participants seeking clearer direction for near-term trading strategies.
