US targets Iranian airlines and service providers with fresh sanctions

Among the entities facing restrictions are firms operating across key regional hubs. Malaysian-based companies are among those designated, alongside service providers in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Kazakhstan who have facilitated operations for Iranian airlines. The sanctions prevent these entities from conducting business with US persons and accessing the American financial system.
The 27 Iranian airlines named in the sanctions order have been accused of supporting transport activities contrary to US foreign policy interests. By targeting both carriers and their international supply chains, Washington seeks to limit Tehran's ability to maintain and expand its aviation operations.
The designations underscore the breadth of US enforcement actions against Iran's economy. Regional nations and their businesses face pressure to comply with American sanctions or risk secondary penalties that could restrict their own access to US markets and financial networks.
