MANILA—The University of Santo Tomas will confer an honorary doctorate on Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula in recognition of his contributions to the Church and society. The degree of Doctor of Theology, honoris causa, represents one of UST's highest academic honors.

The conferment will take place on October 15 at the Dr. Robert S. Sy Ballroom in the Buenaventura Garcia Paredes, O.P. Building on the university's campus. The ceremony will be part of UST's ongoing recognition of distinguished individuals who have made significant impact in their respective fields.

Cardinal Advincula has served as the Archbishop of Manila since 2020, leading one of the Catholic Church's most prominent archdioceses in Southeast Asia. His appointment came following his previous service as Archbishop of Capiz. The honorary degree reflects his role in spiritual leadership and pastoral work within the Philippines and the broader Catholic community.
