Uttar Pradesh attracts investors with robust policies, export surge

Uttar Pradesh is capitalising on favourable business conditions to emerge as a preferred destination for domestic and international investors, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Sunday. Addressing the UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida, Goyal highlighted the state's competitive industrial framework and its track record in attracting major corporations across sectors.

The minister pointed to significant growth in state revenue collection as a key driver of development initiatives. Excise duty collection has surged more than fourfold to Rs 60,728 crore in 2025-26 from Rs 14,273 crore in 2016-17, with projections to reach Rs 70,000 crore by the end of the current fiscal year.

Currently, Uttar Pradesh maintains an annual export volume of approximately Rs 2 lakh crore. The state has set an ambitious target to increase exports to Rs 5 lakh crore by 2030, reflecting confidence in sustained economic growth. Goyal noted that improved investment climate and business-friendly policies have created fresh employment opportunities across multiple industries in the state.
