Uttar Pradesh attracts over ₹600 crore in fisheries sector investments

Investment proposals totaling more than ₹600 crore have been secured by Uttar Pradesh across multiple segments of the fisheries sector, according to Dhanalakshmi K., Director General of Fisheries.
The proposals span a diverse range of activities within the aquaculture and seafood industry. Direct fisheries operations have attracted ₹13.80 crore in commitments, while the animal feed production segment has garnered ₹51.00 crore. Cold chain infrastructure, critical for maintaining product quality and extending shelf life, accounts for the largest share at ₹509.20 crore.
Other significant investment areas include hatchery and seed production facilities, which have received ₹6.20 crore, and value addition and export-related operations, with ₹20.00 crore in proposed investments. Together, these segments reflect a comprehensive approach to developing the state's aquaculture ecosystem.
The investment inflows underscore growing commercial interest in Uttar Pradesh's fisheries sector, with particular focus on infrastructure development and export-oriented activities that could position the state as a competitive player in the national and international seafood markets.
