Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Prayagraj on Tuesday to unveil an ambitious redevelopment initiative aimed at transforming an area historically linked to organised crime. The locality, known as Kasari-Masari, will be redeveloped as Krishnapuri, the CM announced, signalling a broader policy to disassociate neighbourhood identities from criminal elements.
Addressing the redevelopment project, Adityanath stated that areas should no longer be identified by their associations with mafia activities. The initiative represents efforts by the state government to reclaim public spaces and reshape communities affected by organised crime networks.
As part of the Sharadiya Navratri season, the redevelopment work is being accelerated, with 602 new residential units and township projects under active construction in the region. Officials said the pace of work has been intensified to complete the ambitious housing and infrastructure scheme.
The redevelopment comes against the backdrop of sustained anti-crime operations in Uttar Pradesh targeting organised crime networks. The state government has prioritised such urban renewal projects in areas previously dominated by criminal syndicates, framing them as part of broader law-and-order initiatives.
