Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM meets reservation reform activists, pledges dialogue

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak met with representatives of the reservation reform movement on Tuesday, assuring them that their demands would be placed before Union Ministers for consideration. The meeting marked an attempt by the state administration to engage with the protesters who have been pressing for modifications to existing reservation policies.

During the interaction, Pathak committed to facilitating dialogue between the agitators and central government officials. The Deputy CM's office indicated that the administration remained open to discussing the movement's concerns through formal channels.

However, several prominent leaders of the reservation reform movement publicly distanced themselves from the meeting, signaling internal divisions within the protest coalition. These leaders contended that any meaningful engagement must involve direct talks with government representatives and cannot be confined to administrative assurances.

"The movement remains active and will continue until the government directly addresses our representatives," stated members who stayed away from the talks. The activists reiterated their commitment to sustained pressure until their core demands receive substantive response from authorities.

The reservation reform movement has been demanding comprehensive changes to the current system, citing concerns about implementation and eligibility criteria. The movement's continuation despite the Deputy CM's intervention suggests that ground-level activists remain unconvinced by administrative-level discussions alone.
