Uttar Pradesh doubles disaster relief compensation for farmers, livestock owners

Uttar Pradesh has raised disaster relief payments across multiple categories, providing enhanced financial support to farmers and residents impacted by natural calamities. The state government has doubled compensation in several key areas under its disaster assistance scheme.

Families who lose members in natural disasters will now receive 8 lakh rupees, up from the previous amount. Crop damage claims have also been increased, though specific revised figures were not detailed. The expanded relief measures reflect the government's effort to provide more substantial financial security to affected agricultural communities.

Livestock owners will also benefit from enhanced compensation rates. Large animals such as cattle and buffalo will now attract 50,000 rupees in relief payments, an increase from the previous 40,000 rupees. Smaller livestock including goats, sheep, and pigs will qualify for 5,500 rupees per animal, revised upward from earlier rates.

The revised compensation structure aims to address the economic burden faced by rural households dependent on agriculture and animal husbandry when natural disasters strike. Officials have indicated that the enhanced relief amounts will help accelerate recovery and rehabilitation efforts across affected regions in the state.
