A 12-member family from Uttar Pradesh has been rescued from alleged bonded labour in Hyderabad following an intervention by local authorities. The family members were reportedly confined to a single premises where they cooked and slept in the same rooms, with sanitation facilities grossly inadequate.
According to investigations, the family was forced to work seven days a week without adequate rest or compensation. Members who fell ill or were unable to complete assigned tasks allegedly faced physical and verbal abuse from employers. Requests for wage payments were reportedly met with refusal and further mistreatment.
The rescue operation was undertaken after complaints surfaced regarding the family's living and working conditions. Authorities have initiated a case against the alleged employers under relevant provisions of labour and human trafficking laws.
The rescued family members are currently receiving support from welfare authorities. The case highlights persistent concerns about bonded labour practices in India, particularly affecting migrant workers from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who are vulnerable to exploitation by unscrupulous employers.
