Uttar Pradesh food safety officials seize suspected goods worth ₹13.45 lakh

In a pre-Rakshbandhan enforcement operation, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) in Uttar Pradesh seized three vehicles loaded with suspected foodstuffs late at night on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. The action resulted in the confiscation of food products valued at approximately ₹13.45 lakh.

Authorities intercepted the vehicles during a routine patrol and found them carrying items that raised food safety concerns. The exact nature of the suspected food items was not immediately disclosed, though officials confirmed the goods did not meet regulatory standards or proper documentation requirements.

Following the seizure, the confiscated food materials were transferred to authorized cold storage facilities to preserve evidence and prevent public health risks. The timing of the operation, coinciding with the Hindu festival of Rakshbandhan, reflects intensified food safety inspections during major celebrations when consumption patterns surge.
