Uttar Pradesh renames Ghaziabad college after freedom fighter Ajit Singh

The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has approved the renaming of a prominent postgraduate institution in Ghaziabad in recognition of freedom fighter Chaudhary Ajit Singh's legacy.

Janta PG College will henceforth be known as Chaudhary Ajit Singh Janta PG College, officials said. The decision reflects the state government's effort to commemorate the achievements of significant historical figures and ensure their contributions are transmitted to younger generations.

The renaming initiative is part of a broader policy framework aimed at strengthening the educational infrastructure across the state while preserving and promoting the memory of those who shaped India's independence struggle.

Educational institutions across India have increasingly adopted such naming conventions in recent years to honour freedom fighters, reformers, and notable public figures.
