Uttar Pradesh to teach Gen Alpha through viral video shorts and reels

Uttar Pradesh's basic and secondary education department has rolled out a new digital learning project aimed at simplifying classroom instruction for younger students through engaging short-form video content. The initiative, part of the state government's broader modernisation efforts, will leverage the popularity of social media platforms to make education more interactive and accessible.

Under the scheme, difficult and abstract concepts across various subjects will be explained through short videos, reels, and animated content tailored to capture student attention. The pedagogical approach recognises that Generation Alpha learners are increasingly drawn to visual, bite-sized educational material delivered through platforms they already use regularly.

The State Institute of Educational Technology (SIET) has been tasked with overseeing the project's execution and content creation. Educational materials produced under the initiative will be distributed across YouTube and Facebook, ensuring broad reach among students and their families across the state.

The move reflects a growing trend among Indian states to integrate social media and digital platforms into formal education systems. Officials believe the approach could enhance student engagement and comprehension rates, particularly for subjects that have traditionally posed challenges to learners.
