Uttar Pradesh transforms from laggard to growth engine, CM claims

Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a key growth driver for India's economy, according to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, marking a significant turnaround from the state's earlier reputation. The chief minister's assertion underscores the state government's efforts to position Uttar Pradesh as a development leader following years of being classified among India's economically weaker states.

A cornerstone of the state's development strategy has been the emphasis on women's economic participation. The government has deployed 54,000 Banking Correspondent Sakhis across villages to provide banking services at the grassroots level, expanding financial inclusion in rural areas.

These Sakhis, predominantly women, serve as crucial intermediaries between formal banking institutions and village communities, facilitating transactions and financial literacy in remote regions. The initiative reflects broader state government efforts to integrate women into economic activities while strengthening rural financial infrastructure.
