Uttarakhand launches fresh voter registration drive from November 12

The Uttarakhand Election Commission has initiated preparations for the upcoming electoral cycle with a comprehensive voter registration campaign set to commence on November 12, officials announced following an all-party coordination meeting. Chief Electoral Officer BVRC Purushottam confirmed that the first phase of technical verification procedures will run concurrently with the voter drive across the state.

The verification process will encompass systematic checking of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and voter-verifiable paper audit trails (VVPATs) at designated polling locations. This dual approach aims to ensure both electoral inclusivity through expanded voter registration and technical preparedness through equipment validation.

The all-party meeting served to brief political representatives and stakeholders on the timeline and operational protocols for the voter registration initiative. Election officials emphasized the importance of coordinated participation from all political parties in facilitating smooth voter enrollment across constituencies.

The voter drive represents part of the election management process in the state, with authorities prioritizing both accessibility for new registrants and rigorous technical standards for voting infrastructure. Officials indicated that detailed guidelines for polling stations and voter registration centers would be communicated to district-level authorities ahead of the November 12 launch date.
