Valencia City prepares for waste surge during Undas cemetery visits

VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon — Local environmental authorities are mobilizing cleanup operations as the city braces for a significant influx of cemetery waste during the Undas holidays this year. The City Environment and Natural Resources Office has projected that burial sites across Valencia City will accumulate around 20 tons of mixed garbage during the All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day observances, when families traditionally visit to pay respects to deceased loved ones.

Julius Parian, head of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, has called on cemetery visitors to practice responsible waste disposal during the holiday period. The appeal comes as municipal cleanup crews prepare contingency plans to manage the anticipated volume of refuse generated by the seasonal surge in cemetery visits.

The waste accumulation during Undas represents an annual challenge for the city's sanitation services. Officials have urged residents to segregate their trash properly and dispose of flowers, candles, and other cemetery offerings in designated receptacles to ease cleanup efforts and minimize environmental impact.

Valencia City's environmental department will deploy additional personnel and equipment to manage the expected waste volume throughout the holiday period. The initiative aims to maintain cleanliness at burial grounds while reducing the burden on municipal waste management systems during the peak visitation season.
