Valenzuela delays traffic enforcement system due to road works

Valenzuela City has postponed the restart of its no-contact apprehension policy, citing incomplete road construction and unstable traffic conditions. The suspension comes as authorities assess whether conditions are suitable for reimplementing the automated traffic enforcement system.

Valenzuela City will delay the resumption of its no-contact apprehension policy (NCAP) originally scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5, Mayor Wes Gatchalian announced on Saturday. The city cited ongoing road construction projects and fluctuating traffic patterns as primary reasons for the postponement. While acknowledging the system's importance for traffic management, Gatchalian said current conditions did not warrant its immediate return to operation. The mayor indicated that successive road works across the city necessitated further assessment before reactivating the automated enforcement system. Officials did not specify a new implementation date, stating only that the city would monitor conditions and announce the restart once deemed appropriate. The NCAP uses camera technology at intersections to capture traffic violations and issue citations without direct police intervention.
