Valenzuela suspends afternoon classes due to heavy rainfall warning

The local government of Valenzuela City announced the suspension of afternoon classes across all educational levels on Monday afternoon, citing adverse weather conditions brought by the southwest monsoon, locally known as the Habagat.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) had placed Valenzuela City under a Yellow Rainfall Warning due to the intensified monsoon system. The announcement was made public through the city government's social media channels at 2 p.m.

The suspension covered both public and private schools operating within the city's jurisdiction. Local officials did not immediately announce whether classes would resume for the following day or if additional suspensions would be declared pending updated weather assessments.

The southwest monsoon system brings heavy rainfall to parts of Luzon during the months of June to September, with peak intensity typically occurring during late summer. Communities in the region are advised to monitor weather updates and heed local government directives regarding school operations and public safety measures.
