VCK chief urges broader anti-EVM campaign beyond election chief demand
Thirumavalavan has called for the INDIA coalition's protests to evolve into a nationwide movement challenging both the Modi government and electronic voting machines, rather than limiting demands to the Chief Election Commissioner's removal.

The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader has escalated his push for the INDIA opposition bloc to transform current electoral protests into a comprehensive grassroots campaign. Thirumavalavan argued that the coalition's agitation should transcend its immediate focus on demanding the Chief Election Commissioner's resignation and instead mobilise public opinion against the government and the electronic voting machine system itself.
His remarks reflect growing calls within sections of the opposition to broaden the scope of their electoral grievances into a larger political movement. Thirumavalavan contended that a mass movement addressing systemic concerns about election administration would carry greater political weight than narrowly focused administrative demands.
The VCK leader's intervention comes as the INDIA bloc continues to voice concerns over election conduct and institutional independence. His call for a 'people's movement' suggests opposition parties should leverage public discontent into sustained mobilisation beyond parliamentary proceedings.
The proposition underscores deep-rooted anxieties within certain opposition quarters regarding electronic voting mechanisms and their deployment in Indian elections, issues that have periodically surfaced in political discourse despite technical affirmations of EVM reliability by election authorities.
