The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has acknowledged the critical role played by vegetable donors in sustaining its flagship Anna Prasadam feeding programme at the renowned Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh.
According to TTD's Additional Executive Officer Venkaiah Chowdary, the temple's massive meal distribution service consumes approximately 13 to 14 tonnes of rice daily, alongside more than eight tonnes of vegetables required to prepare the dishes.
The Anna Prasadam initiative serves as one of India's largest temple-based community feeding operations, providing meals to thousands of devotees and pilgrims who visit the sacred shrine throughout the year. The scale of the operation necessitates consistent sourcing of fresh produce to maintain both quality and nutritional standards.
The TTD administration has underscored that contributions from vegetable suppliers form an essential component of the programme's logistics chain. The acknowledgement highlights the interconnected nature of the temple's operations, where coordination with agricultural producers ensures uninterrupted meal service.
With pilgrim footfall remaining consistently high at the Tirupati temple, officials emphasize that maintaining reliable supply chains for bulk vegetables remains critical to the sustainability and success of the Anna Prasadam service.
