Vehicle inspection transfer fees to remain fixed under multi-operator system

SUNGAI BULOH, Sept 14 — The multi-operator framework for motor vehicle inspection services does not permit licensed operators to engage in price competition, the Transport Ministry has clarified, ensuring uniform fee structures for vehicle ownership transfer inspections nationwide.

Under the existing system, all authorised inspection service providers must adhere to standardised fee schedules established by the ministry, preventing individual operators from undercutting competitors or charging premium rates. This regulatory approach aims to maintain consistent pricing transparency for vehicle owners undergoing the mandatory inspection process when transferring vehicle ownership.

The standardised fee structure applies to all inspection facilities operating under the multi-operator licensing arrangement, regardless of their location or operational scale.
