Vehicle with pilgrims swept away in MP floods; eight dead

Eight people, including seven members of an Odisha family, died when their vehicle was swept away by monsoon flooding in Madhya Pradesh's Agar Malwa district. The group had been returning after visiting the Baglamukhi Temple when heavy rains caused a nearby watercourse to overflow, submerging the car.

The incident underscores the dangers posed by seasonal floods across central India during the monsoon months. Local authorities initially recovered some bodies from the flooded area, with rescue operations continuing as water levels remained high in the region.

The Odisha government announced that it would arrange airlifting of the eight bodies to facilitate their return to the state for final rites.
