MANILA — Former House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco and his wife, Rowena, did not appear before the National Bureau of Investigation on Monday as scheduled to address allegations brought by dismissed police officer Rodulfo Gracioso Jr.

Gracioso has accused Velasco of ordering him to deliver more than P3 billion in cash to Vice President Sara Duterte and her associates, according to documents submitted to the NBI. The allegations represent serious accusations against the prominent political figure and former congressional leader.

Vice President Duterte was also listed as a no-show for the NBI questioning. The investigation marks a significant development in a case involving high-ranking government officials and substantial sums of money.

The NBI had scheduled the Monday appearance to gather testimony and clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged cash transfers. The failure of the Velascos and the Vice President to appear raises questions about the progress of the investigation and whether follow-up summons will be issued.

The case continues to draw attention as it involves former and current government officials and centers on serious financial allegations. Further developments in the NBI investigation are expected in the coming days.
