LUCENA CITY — A venomous Philippine cobra has been safely captured and removed from the grounds of a secondary school in Tayabas City, Quezon province, following a swift response by local environmental authorities.
The snake was apprehended at 1:17 p.m. on Tuesday at Buenaventura Alandy National High School, according to a statement issued Wednesday by the Tayabas City Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO). The operation proceeded without complications, and there were no reported injuries.
The Philippine cobra is among the country's most dangerous snake species. The removal of the reptile from the school grounds eliminated the immediate safety risk to students and staff during school hours.
Local authorities did not specify the ultimate disposition of the captured cobra. Such operations typically involve coordination between environmental offices and wildlife specialists to ensure both human safety and appropriate handling of the animal.
