Vertical marathon and charity walk raise $5.2m for vulnerable Singaporeans

More than 100 participants took part in a vertical marathon at Marina Bay Sands, helping to raise $5.2 million for vulnerable Singaporeans in need of social support. The event, organised by Community Chest in partnership with the iconic hotel and casino, saw participants climbing the building's internal stairwells in a bid to test their physical endurance while supporting a charitable cause.

The fundraising effort, which also included the Community Chest Heartstrings Walk, has directly benefited 94,000 social service users across Singapore. The contributions will support a range of programmes run by social service agencies that assist low-income families, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations.

Community Chest, Singapore's umbrella body for social service charities, has made fundraising a cornerstone of its mission to ensure comprehensive support for disadvantaged communities. The Marina Bay Sands vertical marathon represents one of several major fundraising initiatives the organisation undertakes annually to sustain and expand its network of partner agencies.
