Veterinarians trained in tracheal stent placement for breathing-impaired dogs

Veterinary professionals from across India gathered in Chennai for an intensive training programme focused on the surgical placement of tracheal stents in dogs suffering from breathing difficulties. The workshop provided participants with practical experience in deploying specialized stents using fluoroscopy guidance, a minimally invasive technique that offers significant relief to affected animals.

Tracheal collapse is a degenerative condition that particularly affects small dog breeds and older animals, causing progressive airway obstruction and breathing problems. The condition can severely impact a dog's quality of life, limiting exercise capacity and causing chronic respiratory distress. Traditional management approaches often rely on medical therapy alone, but tracheal stenting offers a surgical intervention that can substantially improve airway patency.
