Vietnam accelerates efforts to complete database of fallen soldiers

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra has emphasized the importance of completing and enriching the national database on fallen soldiers, their grave sites, and martyrs' cemeteries. The government aims to substantially finish the database system by 2026 while continuing to integrate information from both domestic and international sources.

Recent recovery efforts have yielded significant results. Nearly 850 sets of martyrs' remains were recovered at Le Thi Rieng Park over a four-month period, while Hanoi has completed the planned sampling of all martyrs' graves in the capital. In the southern province of Dong Nai, authorities recovered 120 sets of martyrs' remains from Cambodia, underscoring the cross-border nature of the recovery operations.

The comprehensive database project represents a continuing effort to honor Vietnam's war dead and ensure proper documentation and preservation of their memory. Officials are coordinating with international partners to gather complete records and verify information, reflecting the scale and complexity of documenting casualties from Vietnam's recent history.
