Vietnam is making significant progress on its infrastructure preparations for APEC 2027, with over 49 percent of planned capital allocated for projects in Phu Quoc already disbursed, according to reports from the organizing committee.
A total of 21 projects are underway across the island, with 10 initiatives financed through public investment channels and 11 structured as public-private partnerships or business investment arrangements. This mixed-funding approach reflects Vietnam's strategy to leverage both government resources and private sector participation in preparing venues and facilities for the summit.
The APEC 2027 National Committee, comprising 27 members, has been formally established to oversee preparations. Planners have also adjusted development strategies for Phu Quoc International Airport to ensure adequate capacity for the anticipated influx of international delegates and visitors attending the annual forum.
Vietnam's infrastructure development for APEC 2027 extends beyond conference logistics, with officials positioning Phu Quoc to capitalize on increased tourism interest. The island is being promoted as a destination to attract extended visitor stays and boost local spending, drawing comparisons to its potential as a Michelin-starred culinary and hospitality destination to complement the business event.
