Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung, serving as deputy head of the Central Steering Committee overseeing the national target programme, presided over the conference to review progress and accelerate rollout of the initiative spanning cultural advancement, socio-economic development, rural transformation, and support for ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
The conference focused on streamlining implementation mechanisms to ensure measurable results and visible improvements on the ground. Officials emphasised the need for clearly defined policies, targeted geographic zones, and identification of specific beneficiaries to maximise programme effectiveness.
The National Assembly previously approved the 30.7-billion-USD allocation for the 2026–2035 period, positioning it as one of Vietnam's largest development initiatives. The programme addresses infrastructure gaps, economic opportunities, and living standards in remote and underdeveloped regions.
Government leadership has prioritised full disbursement of allocated funds in 2026 to ensure momentum. Recent institutional reforms have been implemented to streamline bureaucratic processes and reduce implementation delays that historically affected similar national programmes.
The initiative reflects Vietnam's commitment to balanced development and poverty alleviation, particularly benefiting communities in mountainous and ethnic minority regions that face geographic and economic disadvantages.
