Vietnam's Communist Party General Secretary and President To Lam presided over a high-level meeting on November 2 focused on advancing the nation's logistics development and infrastructure capabilities. During the session, To Lam emphasized the need for an immediate and comprehensive review of Vietnam's existing logistics development strategy to identify gaps and inefficiencies.

The leadership called for the establishment of a national coordination mechanism to streamline logistics operations across provinces and sectors. Officials stressed that resolving major structural bottlenecks in the logistics chain has become essential for Vietnam's economic competitiveness, with a target completion timeline before 2027.

The initiative reflects growing recognition that Vietnam's rapid economic expansion has outpaced the development of its domestic logistics infrastructure. Congestion at ports, inadequate intermodal connectivity, and fragmented supply chain networks have constrained trade efficiency and increased operational costs for businesses.

Experts note that seaport modernization and expansion will play a crucial role in the broader logistics overhaul. Enhanced maritime infrastructure is expected to catalyze development of supporting sectors, including maritime finance services, positioning Vietnam to better compete regionally in trade and investment.
