The cliff-based inscriptions on Non Nuoc Mountain in Ninh Binh province and the Pho Hien stone steles in Hung Yen province have been added to UNESCO's Memory of the World Regional Register for Asia and the Pacific.
The Non Nuoc Mountain inscriptions represent an important historical record carved into the natural landscape, while the Pho Hien stone steles document significant aspects of Vietnamese heritage and cultural traditions. Both collections have been recognized for their documentary value and historical significance.
The UNESCO inscriptions underscore Vietnam's commitment to preserving its documentary heritage for future generations. The Memory of the World programme seeks to protect documentary materials of outstanding universal value that are at risk of disappearing.
Vietnam's growing portfolio of UNESCO-recognized documentary heritage reflects the country's rich historical archive and the importance placed on safeguarding records that document its cultural evolution and historical milestones.
