Prime Minister Decision No. 1775/QD-TTg, issued on September 14, 2026, officially endorsed Vietnam's action programme for executing the ASEAN Connectivity Strategic Plan across two planning periods. The programme charts a pathway for Vietnam's participation in regional connectivity initiatives aligned with overarching ASEAN strategic objectives through mid-century.
The action programme is structured to support the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, a comprehensive blueprint for regional integration that addresses physical, digital, and people-to-people connectivity. Vietnam's adoption of the roadmap signals continued commitment to strengthening ASEAN's institutional frameworks and shared development priorities.
Connectivity initiatives under the plan are expected to encompass multiple dimensions of regional cooperation. Among priority areas, Vietnam is working to integrate its national digital identification system, VNeID, with emerging ASEAN digital ID infrastructure—a step intended to facilitate seamless cross-border digital transactions and data exchange among member states.
The action programme reflects broader Vietnamese efforts to enhance regional economic integration and prosperity. By aligning domestic policies with ASEAN strategic frameworks, Vietnam positions itself as an active contributor to the bloc's collective development agenda during a critical period for Southeast Asian geopolitics and economic restructuring.
