Vietnam and the European Union are establishing a dedicated forum to strengthen economic cooperation centered on green transition and emerging value chains, officials announced. The platform will bridge policy discussions with practical business requirements, creating pathways for both sides to capitalize on their partnership potential.

The forum is designed to help Vietnamese enterprises and policymakers better leverage the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, which entered into force in 2020. By facilitating direct engagement between government and business stakeholders, the initiative aims to expand market access for Vietnamese goods while enabling local companies to access European capital, advanced technology, and management expertise.

The cooperation builds on recent developments in bilateral relations, including Belgium's ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement, which provides enhanced safeguards for investors from both regions. The move signals deeper European commitment to strengthening economic ties with Vietnam amid growing emphasis on sustainable development and climate-friendly business practices.

The forum is expected to identify new opportunities in advanced materials development and other high-value sectors aligned with global green economy trends. Through coordinated efforts, Vietnam and the EU aim to create mutually beneficial trade relationships that support long-term economic growth while advancing environmental sustainability goals in the region.
