Vietnam assumes APEC finance chair, outlines 2027 priorities

Vietnam officially assumed leadership of the APEC Finance Ministers' Process at the conclusion of the 33rd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Finance Ministers' Meeting held in Hong Kong on October 20. The transition marks the beginning of Vietnam's year-long presidency of the influential forum, with Finance Minister Ngo Van Tuan heading the Vietnamese delegation.

As the incoming chair, Vietnam has begun outlining its financial priorities for APEC Year 2027, positioning the nation to shape regional economic policy discussions and initiatives across the 21-member forum. The priorities reflect Vietnam's strategic interests in advancing financial cooperation and stability throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Vietnam is drawing on the experience of previous APEC host nations, particularly China, as it prepares to lead the Finance Ministers' Process through its term. This approach aims to ensure a productive and well-organized presidency that builds on established best practices within the forum.

The APEC Finance Ministers' Process serves as a key platform for coordinating economic and financial policies among Asia-Pacific economies, addressing issues ranging from monetary stability to trade finance and regional financial integration.
