Vietnam, Belgium pledge deeper economic and political cooperation

Vietnam's top leadership has engaged in high-level talks with Belgium's parliamentary speakers and royal figures, signaling a new phase in the two countries' diplomatic and economic relationship. The discussions centered on advancing cooperation across multiple sectors including commerce, investment, and political engagement.

Belgian legislators' recent approval of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) was highlighted as a significant achievement reflecting both nations' resolve to deepen economic ties. Officials characterized the ratification as concrete evidence of expanding potential for trade and investment collaboration between Vietnam and Belgium.

The meetings also explored opportunities for enhanced cooperation involving Belgium's Wallonia region, which has played an instrumental role in strengthening bilateral relations. Vietnamese leadership expressed appreciation for Wallonia's contributions to fostering closer Vietnam-Belgium partnership.

These engagements represent a broader commitment by both countries to build multifaceted collaboration spanning political dialogue, economic integration, and people-to-people exchanges. Officials underscored the importance of leveraging the EVIPA framework to facilitate greater business activity and investment flows between the two nations.

The high-level visits demonstrate Vietnam's continued focus on deepening ties with European partners while Belgium reinforces its engagement with Southeast Asia through enhanced relations with a key regional economy.
