Vietnam and Cambodia are on track to achieve their $20 billion trade target, with bilateral commerce reaching $8.7 billion in the first eight months of 2026. The figure represents an 8.3% year-on-year increase, building on record trade levels established in 2025.

Vietnam has solidified its position as a key economic partner for Cambodia, currently ranking as the country's third-largest trading partner while serving as its second-largest source of imports and second-largest export market. This strategic positioning reflects deepening economic integration between the two Southeast Asian neighbors.
Bilateral trade reached $11.3 billion in 2025, marking a record high for the two nations. The momentum has continued into 2026, with trade flows totaling $8.7 billion through August, demonstrating sustained growth trajectories in both import and export sectors.
The acceleration in commerce is being supported by high-level political engagement and expanded business connectivity. A Vietnam-Cambodia trade exposition is expected to bring together more than 160 businesses from both countries, providing platforms for new commercial partnerships and investment opportunities.
Government initiatives from both sides have emphasized strengthening cross-border infrastructure and logistics networks to facilitate smoother trade flows. These efforts are aimed at removing bottlenecks and reducing transaction costs for businesses operating across the border.
As the two countries work toward their $20 billion bilateral trade target, analysts point to growing complementarities in manufacturing, agricultural exports, and services sectors as key drivers for sustained expansion in coming years.
