Vietnam celebrates record female representation in National Assembly

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man recently met with female lawmakers to recognize their contributions to legislative and governance efforts. The meeting highlighted Vietnam's progress in gender representation within its political institutions, with women now constituting a significant minority in the current parliamentary term.

The inclusion of 150 female deputies in the 16th National Assembly marks a substantial achievement in Vietnam's push toward greater gender equality in decision-making bodies. This representation reflects broader efforts across Vietnamese society to ensure women have meaningful roles in shaping policy and directing national development priorities.

Beyond legislative representation, Vietnam has continued to recognize and honor women's achievements across multiple sectors. Recent accolades from international organizations, including recognition from the Food and Agriculture Organization for ten prominent Vietnamese women working in agriculture and rural development, demonstrate the country's commitment to supporting women's advancement in critical economic areas.

The emphasis on women's empowerment comes as Vietnam seeks to leverage diverse perspectives and talent in addressing contemporary challenges facing the nation. Officials have indicated that strengthening women's participation in governance and economic sectors remains a key priority for the country's continued development and modernization efforts.
