Vietnam-China bilateral trade surges 37.6% in first nine months

Bilateral trade between Vietnam and China jumped 37.6% year-on-year to hit $253.1 billion during the first nine months of this year, official figures show. Vietnamese exports to China climbed 32.9% to $65.8 billion, while imports from China surged 39.3% to $187.3 billion, reflecting the continued integration of supply chains across Southeast Asia's northern border.

China remains Vietnam's largest source of imports, accounting for approximately 41.3% of total Vietnamese import flows. The country also ranks as Vietnam's second-largest export destination, capturing 15.2% of Vietnam's total overseas shipments. The trade imbalance reflects Vietnam's reliance on Chinese raw materials, components, and capital goods for its manufacturing sector.

Commercial officials and analysts have characterized the trade expansion as substantive, pointing to parliamentary cooperation as a key mechanism for strengthening bilateral economic relations. The ongoing development of people-to-people and institutional ties is expected to further consolidate economic partnerships between Hanoi and Beijing across multiple sectors.
