National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man held substantive discussions with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, during an October 12 visit to Beijing. The meeting reflected ongoing efforts by both countries to strengthen institutional ties at the legislative level.
The two parliamentary leaders co-chaired the second session of the Vietnam-China National Assembly Cooperation Committee, a mechanism designed to facilitate regular dialogue and coordination between the two legislatures. Officials indicated that the committee discussions focused on expanding cooperative frameworks that benefit both nations.
During his Beijing visit, Tran Thanh Man toured the Museum of the Communist Party of China, a symbolic gesture underscoring the historical bonds between Hanoi and Beijing. The visit comes as both countries seek to leverage legislative channels to advance bilateral relations and enhance mutual understanding.
Chinese scholars have characterized parliamentary cooperation as instrumental to broadening Vietnam-China relations beyond government-level engagement. Analysts suggest that increased legislative exchanges and people-to-people contacts could help solidify economic and cultural partnerships between the two Southeast Asian neighbors, particularly as regional dynamics continue to evolve.
