Vietnam, China strengthen legislative ties with high-level Beijing talks

Vietnamese National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man held substantive talks with Zhao Leji, Chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, on October 12 in the Chinese capital. The meeting focused on expanding legislative cooperation between the two neighboring countries and exploring mechanisms for greater policy coordination at the parliamentary level.

During the discussions, both officials reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties through enhanced legislative exchange and experience-sharing initiatives. The talks reflected ongoing efforts by Vietnam and China to deepen institutional cooperation despite occasional diplomatic tensions in the region.

The high-level engagement underscores the importance both nations place on maintaining robust parliamentary-to-parliamentary channels. Such legislative interactions serve as a foundation for implementing broader bilateral agreements and coordinating positions on regional matters.

The meeting was part of Tran Thanh Man's broader visit to Beijing, during which he also engaged with other senior Chinese officials and attended discussions on expanding people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
