Vietnam Electricity and its subsidiaries, including Southern Power Corporation and the Southern Power Project Management Board, have concluded three key power infrastructure initiatives in August to bolster Phu Quoc's energy capacity. The An Giang Power Company and related agencies coordinated the effort, which was executed one year ahead of APEC 2027.
The projects form part of broader preparations for Vietnam's hosting of the APEC Economic Leaders' Week, one of the most significant diplomatic and economic events on the regional calendar. Phu Quoc, a major tourist destination and economic hub in southern Vietnam, will serve as a key venue for the summit.
Official statements indicate the completed projects will provide a solid foundation for sustained power supply to the island throughout the APEC period and beyond. The coordinated effort among state-owned utilities underscores Vietnam's commitment to ensuring adequate infrastructure for the high-profile gathering.
The timing of the completion allows authorities a full year to conduct final tests and contingency planning. Vietnam's integration into regional and global economic frameworks, highlighted by APEC's focus, requires robust infrastructure capabilities to support international delegations and business activities during the summit.
